Rise of the Planet of the Apes Movie in 2011
20th Century Fox is planning a new movie prequel to Planet of the Apes. The film is titled Rise of the Planet of the Apes and it will chronicle the downfall of Earth to the apes, and how one super intelligent ape leads the revolution against humankind. The release date of Rise of the Planet of the Apes is set for June 24, 2011.
The movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes will be directed by Rupert Wyatt and written by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa. The movie will be starring James Franco as a scientist and will rely heavily on CGI apes: Peter Jackson's WETA (the company behind the special effects in the Lord of the Rings trilogy) will employ certain of the groundbreaking technologies developed for "Avatar" to render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors.
Plot of Rise of the Planet of the Apes:
"Set in present day San Francisco, the film will follow a scientist (James Franco) working on a cure for Alzheimer's and his test ape, Caesar. The experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy."
I'm glad to hear about the Planet of the Apes movie. I hope that they won't hide the strength of the plot behind too many eye-catchy special effects... It could be a hell of an interesting movie if they do it right.
Impatient to get more details about the Rise of the Planet of the Apes movie!
:)
